This book is a celebration of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's glorious building which still draws visitors from all over the world and of the School which has played such an influential role in the British and European art scenes over the years. The book also provides a fascinating insight into an early period of Mackintosh's life, Charles Rennie Mackintosh was one of the foremost British practitioners of the Art Nouveau style, and yet his work managed to bridge the more ornate style of the later nineteenth century and the forms of international Modernism that followed. He was a master of thoroughly integrating art and decoration and this is shown no where better than in the Glasgow School of Art
