Numerical modeling using finite element method (FEM) is well-recognized as a powerful method for both engineers and researchers to solve boundary value problems. In the modeling of geotechnical problems, the analyses are often limited to simple static problems with either steady-state effective or total stress approach while the transient response (development and dissipation of excess pore water pressure, uex) is seldom considered. Besides, infinitesimal small soil deformation is usually assumed.
