This paper presents error control for the 2-D fast inhomogeneous planewave algorithm in lossy and active media. The error is explained, and control regions are defined according to the loss or gain. As a result, 2-D FIPWA is proposed for use in 3-D layered medium problems.link_to_subscribed_fulltex
