The distribution of the potential outside a charged ellipsoidal particle is useful in studying dielectric enhancement of a suspension of such particles. Before we study the interaction of the particle with an electric field, the equilibrium solution needs to be obtained. In this paper, we report the solution of the three-dimensional distribution of the potential outside a charged ellipsoidal particle in equilibrium in an electrolytic solution. The problem is solved numerically using Newton's method. We also compare the inner solution with an analytic inner solution. © 1985 American Institute of Physics.link_to_subscribed_fulltex
