The deformation banding model predicts γ fiber orientations which are mutually rotated with respect to each other by ND rotations. Patterns of misorientation in the rolling plane sections of γ fiber grains favor nucleation of {111}〈hkl〉 grains. Observed patterns of misorientation in γ grains provide the geometrical conditions for nucleation in these grains, and these misorientations arise because of the process of deformation banding.link_to_subscribed_fulltex
