Recent studies reveal conflicting results on the change of solute transfer with time on continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) and recurrent peritonitis. Herein, we performed a cross-sectional study of 76 patients on CAPD to examine their peritoneal permeability by measuring the dialysate to serum ratio of creatinine (D/P) and the mass transfer area coefficients of creatinine (MTACCr) or glucose (MTACGlu). Transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1), platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), and epidermal growth factor (EGF) were measured in the dialysate by ELISA.
