A communication network consisting of a large number of geographically dispersed, mobile nodes is considered. Due to the limited transmission power of the nodes, a message must be relayed from node to node before it reaches its destination. Therefore, routing strategies are necessary. Position location and updating are required for some routing strategies in multihop mobile packet radio networks. Two distributed position update schemes are proposed. The effect of inaccurate positions, which result from update delays, on network performance is studied for a network using the MFR routing strategy.link_to_subscribed_fulltex
