The internship program has become an integral part of the academic program by the Department of Tourism Sciences of the University of the Ryukyus since year 2007. This study is a pilot research examining the effects of the program through the evaluation form collected over a four year period given by both students and industries who took part in the internship. The purpose of the internship program is to provide students with the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in an authentic workplace setting where they can develop new skills and knowledge while gaining a deeper understanding of their discipline and the professional working environment.
