This paper describes the measurements of specific heats of liquids by adiabatic calorimetry using a vacuum bottle. The measuring method is based on the mesurement of temperature rise when a liquid is electrically heated in the bottle. The heat capacity of the measuring device was determined using water and ethylene glycol as standard reference materials. Then the specific heats of three kinds of spindle oils (spindle oil #2, spindle oil #5 and spindle oil #10) were measured. The results are represented by the following formulas over the temperature range from 30℃ to 60℃; for spindle oil #2, Cp=1.895x10^3+2.593t, for spindle oil #5, Cp=1.90lx10^3+2.788t, for spindle oil #10. Cp=1.925x10^3+2.577t, where Cp is specific heat [J/(kg・K)] and t is...
