Burning and nitrogen fertilization in combination increased forage production significantly over any other treatment including fertilization alone. Forage production on plots burned and fertilized with 100 pounds of nitrogen increased forage production 59% over the control and 54% over plots unburned and treated with 100 pounds of nitrogen. Burning, fertilization, and their combination were effective in reducing forbs. This material was digitized as part of a cooperative project between the Society for Range Management and the University of Arizona Libraries. The Journal of Range Management archives are made available by the Society for Range Management and the University of Arizona Libraries.
