The application of the laser-based solid state fluorescence technique fluorescence line-narrowing spectroscopy (FLNS) to the metabolic pathways of DNA and oligonucleotide adducts from benzo(a) pyrene (B(a) P), and 7,12-dimethylbenz(a) anthracene (DMBA) is described. Fluorescence line-narrowed (FLN) spectra of a variety of synthetic model adducts of B(a) P and DMBA expected from one-electron oxidation mechanism are presented. The depurinated adduct in the urine and feces from mouse exposed (in vivo) to B (a) P, depurinated adducts from MC-induced microsome- and horseradish peroxidase-catalazed binding (in vitro) of B (a) P to DNA, and from mouse skin DNA (in vivo) are investigated by the analysis of the FLN spectra obtained from these sample...
