During previous years (1974-75), soybean cultivars belonging to Maturity Groups 00 to IV were tested in the screenhouse for corn earworm (Heliothis zea-Boddie) resistance and the results were reported in the 1978 issue of Soybean Genetics Newsletter (Joshi, 1978a, 1978b). A new batch of soybean cultivars, 30 belonging to Maturity Group IV and 39 to Maturity Group V, were tested in the screenhouse (54\u27 x 72\u27 x 15\u27) during 1976. Ten seeds of each cultivar were planted on June 16, 1976 in 4 replications, the seeds being 2 apart within the row and rows being 36 apart
