It is highly important in Japan to choose a good site for wind turbines, because the spatial distribution of wind speed is quite complicated over steep complex terrain. We have been developing the unsteady CFD code called the RIAM-COMPACT【○!R】. The RIAM-COMPACT【○!R】 is based on LES turbulence model. In this paper, to test the accuracy of the RIAM-COMPACT【○!R】, we have performed a numerical simulation of a non stratified airflow past a three-dimensional cube in a uniform flow. Attention is focused on airflow characteristics in the wake region. Through comparison of the commercial CFD software (STAR-CCM+), the results from the RIAM-COMPACT【○!R】 are in good agreement with those obtained from STAR-CCM+
