Studies on the Accumulation of the Organic Matter Becoming Decomposable through the Effect of Drying a Soil (II) : The Effect of Soil Clay on the Decomposition of Straw and the Accumulation of the Organic Matter Becoming Decomposable throught the Effect of Drying a Soil

This paper deals with the influence of soil clays on the mineralization of rice straw added to soils and the accumulation of the organic matter becoming decomposable through the effect of drying a soil produced during its mineralization process under the three kinds of nutritional conditions, i.e., without nitrogen fertilizer and added with ammonium sulfate（62.3 mg N/100 g soil）and ammonium nitrate（22.8 mg N/100 g soil）. Under the condition where the soils and sand were treated without nitrogen fertilizer, all kinds of soil clays used retarded the accumulation of the organic matter becoming decomposable through the drying effect, and it is possible from the behaviours of the mineralization rates during the incubation periods to take the view that all kinds of clays used also retarded the mineralization of the rice straw. Under the condition where the soils and sand were treated with ammonium sulfate it was observed that all kinds of soil clays used accelerated the growth of soil microorganisms concerning with the decomposition of rice straw. Except allophane-type clay, the stronger the power of the clay to make the ammonium ion concentration in a solution low, the larger the acceleration effect of the clay on the growth of microorganisms, i.e., montmorillonite-type soil clay is more effective on the growth of them than kaolinite-type soil clay. Under the condition where the soils and sand were treated with ammonium nitrate, the mineralization rates of rice straw increased in the following order; Sand＞Allophane-＞Kaolinite-＞Montmorillonite-type soil, and the accumulation amounts of the organic matter becoming decomposable through the drying effect increased in the following order; Kaolinite-＞Montmorillonite-＞Allophane-type soil＞Sand. It is also observed that all kinds of the soil clay used retarded the accumulation of nitrogen in organic form. The retardation by allophane-type soil clay was especially remarkable. From the results of all the experiments, it might be concluded that the soil clays change the intensity of supplying nitrogen which is the leading factor for the growth of the organisms, consequently, they have strong influences upon the rate of the growth of soil microorganisms concerning with the decomposition of plant residue and the utilization efficiency of energy for the organisms to grow. Therefore, the cation and anion exchange capacities of clays and the strength of absorbing power of the bases like NH_4 and K on their exchange site, which differ widely among the kinds of clay are the important factors for the mineralizaion of the plant residue added and the accumulation of the organic matter becoming decomposable through the effect of drying a soil.耕地における植物遺体の分解およびその分解過程で生成される易分解性有機物の集積に対する土壌粘土の役割を明らかにすることを目的として室内実験を行なった.土壌粘土は主要粘土鉱物を異にする3種類（M-系,K-系, A-系,Table 2参照）の土壌より採取された.砂および砂に土壌粘土を添加して調製した人工土壌を使用し,窒素肥料を施用しない条件,硫安を施用した条件,硝安を施用した条件下で各培地における稲わら（Table 1参照）の無機化およびその過程で生成される易分解性有機物の集積量を比較した.以下に得られた結果の概要を述べる.稲わら炭素の無機化および易分解性有機物の集積に対する粘土の影響は粘土の種類で異なったが,その影響の現われ方は,窒素肥料の施用条件によって著しく異なる.窒素肥料を施用しない条件下ではいずれの土壌粘土も稲わら炭素の無機化を抑制すると考えられ,またいずれの土壌粘土も易分解性有機物の集積を抑制した（Tables 3,4参照）.その程度はCECの大きいM-系粘土を主要粘土鉱物とする土壌粘土で特に顕著であった.硫安をNにして土壌100g当り62.3mg施用した条件下では供試したすべての粘土で粘土の添加が微生物の増殖を促進し,間接的に炭素の無機化および易分解性有機物の集積に関係していることが認められた（Tables 5,6,9参照）.この場合, A-系の粘土を主要鉱物とする土壌粘土を例外として粘土のCECおよびNH_4のその粘土への置換侵入力の大きさが主要な要因になっていることが認められた.すなわち,土壌溶液中のNH^·_4濃度を低くする粘土程（Table 10参照）,すなわちK-系粘土よりもM-系粘土の方が微生物の増殖促進効果が大であった（Table 11, Fig.1参照）.この硫安施用条件下での実験結果から,NH^·_4が微生物に高濃度で供給された場合には稲わらの無機化に関与している微生物の増殖が阻害されることが推察される.また窒素集積量と炭素無機化量との関係から（Table 12参照）,微生物の増殖におけるエネルギーの利用効率がNH^·_4の供給濃度によって異なることが推察される.硫安施用条件下におけるA-系粘土を主要とする土壌粘土の微生物の増殖促進作用の活作はM-およびK-系粘土のそれとは異なると考えられた.すなわち,A-系土壌粘土はCECおよびNH_4の粘土への置換侵入力から考えて,土壌溶液中のNH^·_4濃度の低下に対してそれ程顕著な作用力はもたないと考えられるにもかかわらず,その微生物の増殖促進の効果は大きかった.このA-系土壌粘土を含む土壌では他の土壌と異なり,稲わらの無機化過程で土壌反応が著しく高まった.このことはA-系粘土を含む土壌の土壌溶液中ではNH^·_4の濃度も高いが,同時に無機化に伴って稲わらから放出されて来た塩基とくにK^·の濃度も高くなっていることを示している.K^·はNH^·_4とは拮抗関係にあり,微生物に対するNH^·_4の供給強度は相対的に低下していると考慮され,このことがA-系土壌粘土の微生物増殖促進と関連していると考えられる.このような効果はアロフェンのもつ陰イオン吸着容量およびK^·のアロフェンへの置換侵入力が小さいことによって説明される.硝安をNにして土壌100g当り22.8mg施用した条件下では稲わらの無機化率は砂で最も大きく,A-＞K-＞M-系粘土の順に低下した（Table 7参照）.易分解性有機物の集積は砂＜A-＜M-＜K-系粘土の順に有利に進行することが認められた（Table 8参照）.また,いずれの粘土も窒素の有機化すなわち微生物の増殖を抑制することが認められた（Table 9参照）.微生物の増殖抑制の程度はA-系粘土で特に顕著であり,K-系粘土よりM-系粘土の方が大きかった.以上の結果から,土壌粘土は微生物の増殖におけるリーディング・ファクターである窒素の供給強度に影響をおよぼし,微生物の増殖および増殖におけるエネルギー効率に影響すると推察される.この場合,土壌粘土のもつCEC, AECの大きさおよび粘土への各種陽イオンの置換侵入様式の違いが主要な因子になるといえる.耕地土壌においては土壌粘土は植物遺体の無機化および易分解性有機物の集積に対し,微生物への窒素養分の供給強度への関与を通じて影響するところが大きいものと推察される
