Studies on population biology of coastal fishes in Kyushu : I. Biology of Sebastes inermis Cuvier et Valencin nes

This paper presents contribution s to the biology of Sebastiscus marmoratus (Cuvier et Valencinnes). The scale and otolith show similarity in mark-size, but otolith-marks are better for age-determination than scale-marks. The relationship of total length (L) to otolith-size (R) is isometric and each mark-size is standardized by L-R equation. The marks are formed in May every year The growth of this species is fitted the Putter-Bertalanffy\u27s equation to length data, the Buch-Andresen-Fischer\u27s equation to weight data. This ovoviviparous fish copulates in October and t h e egg-fertilization and progeny-production occur from December to February. This fish produces the progenies at several times throughout the spawning season. The number of progenies increases with age, ranging from 10,000 to 20,000 at one time.この研究は,九州の沿岸性重要魚類についての資源生物学的研究の一部として行なつた.1955年8月から1957年2月に亘つて,390尾を福岡市近郊の津屋崎において採集した.大部分の資料は底刺網(三重網,津屋崎地方では角目網と呼ぶ)で採られ,一部は一本釣で漁獲された.なお,年令査定及び成熟調査の方法については,前報(三尾,1961)において述べたので詳細な説明は省くことにする.本研究を行なうに当り,始終懇切な御指導を頂き,又本論文の御校閲を頂いた相川教授並びに塚原助教授に厚く御礼申し上げる
