Effect of salts on the activity\u27 of cytochrome oxidase suspension which was prepared from ox heart muscle to contain salts as little as possible, was invesigated. As the result, it was found many kinds of salts activate the activity of this enzyme. Salts of one valency cation such as KC1, were maximally effective at a concentration of M/22, but salts of two valency cation such as MgC1:, were maximally effective at a lower molar concentration. On the other hand, AIC13i ZnC12 and CuSO3 inhibited the activity of this enzyme.
