Roles of Area Management Organization in Planning and Management of City Center

In recent years, organizations of private sector practice area management in city center, Japan. This study aims to analyze how roles area management organization has in planning and management of city center. First, through the research concerning urban plans and guidelines by 17 advanced area management organizations at 10 districts, we show the trend and characteristics of ways to develop plan, contents of plan and techniques for realizing plan. Secondly, we review the actions of four private sectors organizations at Tenjin District of Fukuoka City, where they have practiced area management for a long time, and point out that they work on emergency problems and take actions to realize plans by them as they coordinate with local govemment
