Flame retardant polymeric nanocomposites have received extensive attention over last decades because of their exceptional flame retardancy and mechanical robustness. Despite great advances, there remains an urgent lack of a comprehensive review on the design, performances, applications and challenges of these polymeric nanocomposites.
