This paper describes a PC-cluster system for real-time distributed video/image processing, which is one of the base architectures for prototype CDV systems. The PC-cluster consists of off-the-shelf personal computers connected via high speed network, which enables us to construct a high performance PC-cluster with low cost. The key issue of the system development is synchronization mechanism of distributed real-time image data. Frame Synchronization Module (FSM) is introduced to realize three kinds of synchronization: forward synchronization, barrier synchronization and backward synchronization.
