Acculturation : Application to Shakespeare\u27s Works

Acculturation, especially in relation to Asian cultures, has become the focus of much recent research. In comparison, however, relatively little work has been carried out in Japan on the acculturation of European societies. In Shakespeare\u27s Tempest, we see a moment when Alonso\u27s perception of European culture might change because of his encounter with a strange being, Caliban. This papaer will try to apply the theory of acculturation to Shakespeare\u27s works, particularly to his Histories that have been considered to be unconnected with acculturation. To make a play reflects some kind of acculturation and challenges people\u27s perception of culture. We can say that any masterpiece should challenge and change people\u27s perception of culture. This approach may forge a connecton between the theory of acculturation and Shakespeare\u27s works
