By researching reverse osmosis technology, through a comprehensive search of both engineering and science fields, a conceptual reverse osmosis design was developed for use by disaster relief agencies throughout the world. The reverse osmosis design is broken into three main sections; pre-membrane treatment, membrane treatment and post-membrane treatment areas. The pre-membrane treatment area, has the ability to collect raw water from a variety of sources; establish whether raw water quality is sufficient, discharge the water safely if not; remove small particles of debris; and pressurise the raw water for further treatment.
