The present work is based on previous results obtained from the analysis of sRNA populations determined by deep sequencing (Next Generation Sequencing) from melon plants (Cucumis melo L. cv. Piel de Sapo) exposed to different adverse conditions in order to carry out a systematic study of the response to stress, in which a predominant accumulation of sequences of 24 nucleotides was observed, followed by sequences of 21 nucleotides in length (the usual in most of the miRNAs described).
