Mathematical modelling of large-scale groundwater resources using numerical models, it¿s a common practice in Hydrology from many years. However, the same cannot be said about applying these models to local-scale geotechnical problems, such as dewatering projects to make a civil work, for example a building. Dewatering is an engineering method that is executed to work safely in large digging depths. The target is to temporally locate the water level of an aquifer below the lowest level of the foundations to be able to work in dry conditions. For that purpose, the water is constantly extracted from the groundwater by different ways. The main alternatives are the wellpoint system and the conventional drainage wells.
