Objective: To describe and analyze the prevention of uterine cervix cancer in the Indigenous Park of Xingu, Mato Grosso, within the period from 2005 through 2006. Methods: This is an observational, transverse, retrospective study, performed by means of collection of data concerning the actions toward the prevention of uterine cervix cancer within the Xingu Project, of the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP). The population universe comprised 503 indigenous women, with age equal to or higher than 12 years and a sexual life history, belonging to seven ethnic groups, living within the Medium, Low and Eastern Xingu regions.
