Cross-sectional study conducted with 374 children aged 05-10 years and their mothers, to evaluate the choice of school meal. Children’s anthropometry (weight and height) and questionnaire were held in the school, while mother’s data were filled out at home. The maternal nutritional status was performed by BMI, and the children used the Z score of BMI both according to WHO. The definitions of permitted and forbidden foods were used to evaluate the quality and choice of lunch from home or at the school canteen. Statistical analysis done were the Fisher exact test, Student t test and analysis of residuals.
