Assess the impact of obesity treatment on adipokines, C-reactive protein and insulin sensitivity in hypertensive patients with central obesity. Methods: The study was realized through collected data and samples of stored serum from patients previously submitted to an open, analytical and controlled intervention study. Initially, there were sellected fifty one hypertensive patients, with age between 18 and 65 years; BMI ≥ 25 kg/m² with fat centrally distributed. Patients were treated with orlistat 120 mg tid and hypocaloric diet or hypocaloric diet only, during 16 weeks.
