Introduction: Paradoxical sleep deprivation (PSD) in rats is able to induce reductions in body mass and body fat, due to increased secretion of pituitary-adrenal axis hormones. Considering that PSD is also associated with a decrease in anabolic hormones, skeletal muscle can also be strongly influenced, causing atrophy damaging its recovery after a lesion. Objectives: To evaluate body mass, hormone profile and tibialis anterior (TA) muscle histomorphometry after cryolesion or no damage.
