Análise da vegetação da Área de Preservação Ambiental de São Desidério - BA, a partir do

This paper was realization in the Area of Environmental Preservation of São Desidério, located in the western region of Bahia, with the aim of to analyse the vegetation cover using the NDVI and NDWI through satellite images TM/Landsat-5. The results obtained showed that the highest values of NDWI represent the vegetation that has higher water content in its internal structure and higher NDVI correspond to vegetation photosynthetic active. For the observed NDVI values between 0 and 0.7, while for NDWI values found are in the ranges -0.6 to 0.3. Comparing the two indexes, it was noticed that areas that have low values NDVI also have low values NDWI, indicating a vegetation with water stress and low chlorophyll. The regions that have higher values on both indexes have higher moisture and pigments responsible for photosynthesis process and the high reflectance of vegetation in the green wavelengths and absorption in the red of the visible range electromagnetic spectrum. Although the NDVI and NDWI differ in their results for the study area, it was noticed that in both the vegetation indexes is in high stage of degradation, despite being a conservation unit.Pages: 1888-189
