The aim of this work is to explore the potential of genetic algorithms to tune a reset controller for an Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system in following mode in order to outperform a linear controller for changes in the safety distance with respect to the front vehicle. The controller has been tuned for a restrictive set of comfort and high-performance design requirements
