Measurements of Viscosity of Liquids by Glass Capillary Viscometers

Glass capillary viscometers have been used for measuring kinematic viscosity of liquids. The principle of the measurement is based on the Hagen-Poiseuille Law. The reliability of the measuring device has been tested using distilled water as a standard reference material. Then the kinematic viscosity of three kinds of spindle oils (spindle oil #2, spindle oil #5 and spindle oil #10) were measured. The results are represented by the following formulas over the temperature range from 30℃ to 50℃ ; for spindle oil #2, μ=3.166x10^x10^ for spindle oil #5, μ=5.752 x10^x10^ for spindle oil #10, μ=8.053x10^x10^ Where μ is viscosity [mPa･s] and t is temperature [℃].
