We report a theoretical study of transient behaviour of barrierless electronic reactions in solution. We have generalized the early theory of Oster and Nishijima to the low-friction and small-time domain. An analytical form for the decay of the integrated excited state is derived. We point out the strong friction and temperature dependence of the decay rate in the transient domain
