Established by Ged Grebby in Tyneside in 1996, Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) work to combat racism through blending the mass appeal of football and footballing role models within anti-racism education practice. In support of their stated aims of (i) ‘producing educational resources’; (ii) ‘developing activities to encourage people, including young people, to challenge racism’; and (iii) ‘challenging racism in the game of football and other sports’ (SRtRC, n.d.), the charity delivers anti-racism education via interventions in schools, additional support for learning units, youth work groups, and workplaces, as well as grassroots and professional sporting clubs (SRtRC, 2017a).
