PRESENT: The University Library Committee held its third meeting in the Library* Members present were: Mr* Gardner, Chairman; Dr. Khatib, Secretary; Mr. Emblem, Mrs. Samaan, Dr* Bishai, Mr. Boutros, Mr. Eelmy and Mr* Nicola* 8. BUSINESS: a) Reviewing the last meeting's minutes the Committee decided: (i) In order to distinguish between this committee and an older committee on the--—== library, it was decided to change the name of this committee into ’’The University Library Committee”, (ii) To delete item 5d in the last meetings minutes and repharse it as follows: The Committee showing concern that each department of the University be actively concerned in building up the library holdings of the University, recommends that the SOS and the SRC# purchase books and references to the maximum of their annual budgeted allocations* "£>) As a result of the studies by the various members of the Committee, the following .are some of the important problems that the committee feels it should study in its future meetings: (i) Allocation of the current budget for ^___ the current year 1955-56, and a policy for SOS. and SRC* &£ its second meeting, this topic was discussed by the Committee which passed certain recommendation (refer to 5)* (ii) Present needs of the library: 1. Card catalogue of 15 drawers* 2* A book case of six shelves* 3. Telephone* 4* Information file cabinet* 5. A typist clerk. 6. Library assistant for SOS. 7* Library assistant for SRC* 8* Expand hours to 7 or 8 pm* 9. Lighting* 10. Storage
