MINUTES OF THE FACULTY MEETING OF . SATURDAY, DEC« 19, 1970. The Meeting was called to order 1. The minutes were read & approved. 2. The report from the Membership Committee proposed -four persons for membership in the Faculty; Dr. Martin Hinds, Executive Director, CASA; Dr. El Said Badawi, Assistant to the Director, CASA; Dr. Peter Nichols, Business Manager; and Mrs. Safeya Shehata, Assistant Dean of Students, The Faculty voted in favor of accepting Dr. Hinds, Dr. Badawi, and Mr; Nichols as members of the Faculty , but requested that the statement ”the giving of faculty status to the Business Manager should be reviewed as to his personal acceptability should be deleted. 3. A motion was made that Mrs. Shehata attend Faculty meetings in the absence of the Dean of Students,. The motion was defeated. It was then approved that she be accepted as a member of the Faculty. 4-. The Membership Committee recommended that English Language Teachers, Category ’’A”, step 5 and above be accepted as members of the faculty since the qualifications for step 5 and for Instructor step 1 are comparable. The Faculty approved a motion to this effect. 5* The Faculty approved a motion that the By-Laws Committee study the question of amending the By-Laws so as to allow certain members of the administration to be either ex-officio members of the Faculty or to be given the status of observers 6. Dean Allam circulated the first interim report of the Ad-Hoc Departmental Nomenclature & structure Committee. 7* The President reported that he was in the process of forming an ad-hoc preparatory Research Committee to make recommendations as to the terms of referance of such a committee. It would report to the President, the Academic Board, & the Faculty. It is conceivable that such a Committee might become a permanent part of the Committee structure. The Faculty will be notified when the Committee is formed. The meeting was adjourned
