In the interpretation of this principle it is understood that the following represents acceptable academic practice: (1) The precise terms and conditions for every appointment should be stated In writing and be in the possession of both the in­stitution and the teacher before the appointment is consummated. (2) Notice should be given not later than FebnJary 1st if the appointment of any teacher without tenure is to be terminated at the end of that academic year. (~ During the probationary period, a teacher will h~ve the academic freedom that all other members of the faculty have. b. A teacher with permane"t tenure shall have the following privileges: (1) Assurance of a teachi ng pos I ti on at hi s present rank or hi gher untIl retirement. except under condltions indicated in the "c" be 1 O~/. (2) A compensation tn case of dismissal for cause as stated in "c.I" below, above the Indemnity he Is entitled to under the law or as usually provided by the University, namely, an additional three months indemnity if he has served a minimum of five years; an additional six months indemnity if he has served ten years or more; and an additional one year indemnity if he has served over fifteen years. c. Termination of a tenure appointment of a teacher may take place if*: (I) The position which he holds at the University is discontinued due due to a major change in policy; (2) In the judgment of the University Senate he demonstrates inadequacy in carrying out his essential duties under his contract; (3) in the judgment of the University Senate he commits misconduct in­volving dishonor, dishonesty or immorality. d. Anyone who has tenure and is dismissed for reasons "1" and "2" under "e" will be given a year's notice.
