'292 Ap.peYìd.iaC-Er. EXTRACT FROM THE MINUTES OF THE FACULTY OF THE COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES OF THE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY AT CAIRO Under date of May 23, 1925. In view of the approaching close of the academic year, 1924-25, the Faculty voted unanimously that the following resolution of appreciation be spread upon the minutes: In spite of discouragement due to shrinkage in the student body, and to disappointing records of graduates in other institutions, the year has been, in at least two respects, a banner one: (a) Groups, departments, and individuals have had unprecedented opportunity for, and encouragement in, solid constructive academic work. The year has seen the rapid convalescence of scholarship. (b) The morale of the faculty and staff has improved steadily. The spirit of the volunteer has appeared, even in unexpected quarters, and the feeling of partnership has determined our relationships. The faculty believes that these things are due, primarily, to the Acting-Principal, Mr. Russell Galt, and desires to express to him/its warm-hearted appreciation of his leadership during the past year. He has led us in attacking difficulties, and has drawn us together by his combined candor, courtesy, and high-mindedness
