Appendix C-2 (4) That a request be presented to the American Mission in Egypt for the affiliation of Rev, Mr. Elder with the School of Oriental Studies and the taking over by the University of the linguistic side of the Study Center. (5) That Mr. gym. Arthur Jeffery be given an appointment as Associate Professor to be connected ultimately with the School of Oriental Studies, in the meantime rendering service in other Departments of the University; that as there has been no opportunity for a rersonal inter-view with Mr. Jeffery, that this appointment be made for oneyear only, subject to further confirmation, the University, however, assuming the full year's salary and the travelling expenses of Mr. Jeffery between India and Egypt, subject to the securing of the necessary funds. (6) That the appointment of Mr. Arthur E. James as Associate Professor of Science in connection with the College of Arts and Science be approved, subject to the securing of the necessary funds. (7) That the appointment of further professors as outlined in the plans for the development of the University be referred to the Committee on Education with power, subject, however, to the necessary funds being secured. (8) In order to adjust the salaries and allowances of University professors and associate professors to the changes in the scale of salary and other allowances of the American Mission in Egypt, that the following salaries and allowances be authorized as from July 1, 1920; salary allowance of married man for first term $1750 instead of $1700; for unmarried man $1200 instead of $800; vacation allowance $50 instead of $25 for unmarried man and x$100 instead of $50 for married man. Children allowance of $100 per child annually until the eleventh birthday, and 3250 annually until the twenty-second birth-day; these allowances being limited to four children at any one and subject in the later years to the children requiring this assistance because of their being in school. That an outfit allowance of $250 for an unmarried man and $500 for a married man be allowed in connection with the first appointment. That the allowances for freight now pro-vided by the By-Laws should be doubled in each case. (9) That the war bonus of $100 for each unmarried man and $2D0 for each married be continued for the coming year, and during 1921- 22 if continued by the American Mission in Egypt.
