It is possible to identify four uses of water: daily access; water policy within sovereign states, in the realisation of negotiated choices between the consumption of heterogeneous social groups; hydro-politics between states concerning regions with shared water areas, and finally global water policy in the framework of collective reflection. It is also necessary to highlight the conflicts over the use of water, which is becoming scarcer in its drinking form and which has to cope with climate change in the face of significant population growth and costly pollution.
