Activated carbon loaded with phenol, and spent carbon from a carbon-in-pulp plant, were regenerated at constant temperatures in a steam-nitrogen atmosphere in a small batch fluidized bed. A dynamic model was fitted to the results of adsorption tests on these samples, using solutions of KAg(CN)2. It was found that temperature, rather than the duration of regeneration, influenced the activity of the carbon. Both the equilibrium capacity and the kinetics of adsorption were enhanced by an increase in the temperature of regeneration. © 1988.Articl
