LIVE Biennial of Performance Art 2005 is the final festival featured in this collection. Coordinated by Jeremy Turner, LIVE 2005 saw the launch of a dedicated website listing festival events and the decentralization of photography duties from grunt gallery to participating arts organizations, and summarily is less consistently documented in our archive. Lori Weidenhammer introduces LIVE 2005's programming theme 'Altered States', which speaks to the transcendent and transformative potential of performance art practice, both for performers who open their minds and bodies via artistic ritual, and for audiences who bear witness to acts that challenge everyday perceptions
