The purpose of this article is to answer the question: Are there any points of contact between Christianity and Islam? The basis for these refl ections are some of John Paul II’s 1986 statements and the Islamic document: A Common Word between Us and You from 2007, as well as other documents of the Catholic Church and various studies. First the similarities between Christianity and Islam are shown – the belief in one God and the call to fulfi ll the “commandments”. Secondly, the characteristics of both religions are presented, that is what links and at the same time divides them – awareness of God’s will and fulfi llment of a specifi c mission. These are the given points of contact. Thirdly, the author indicates how both religions view each other. In conclusion, he recalls experiences in the fi eld of Christian-Jewish dialogue, which was also preceded by numerous stereotypes and prejudices. It is important to constantly proclaim the Good News, and therefore fi rst of all what unites Christianity and Islam, and then what separates, in order to create an atmosphere of mutual understanding andpeace.Celem artykułu jest próba odpowiedzi na pytanie: Czy istnieją jakiekolwiek punkty styczne między chrześcijaństwem a islamem? Podstawę rozważań stanowią niektóre wypowiedzi Jana Pawła II z 1986 roku oraz islamski dokument: Jednakowe słowo dla nas i dla was z 2007 roku, a także inne dokumenty Kościoła katolickiego czy różne opracowania. Najpierw autor ukazuje to, co czyni chrześcijaństwo i islam podobnymi – wyznawana jedyność Boga oraz wezwanie do wypełniania „przykazań” miłości Boga i miłości bliźniego. Następnie przedstawia to, co jest charakterystyczne dla obu religii, tzn. co je jednocześnie łączy i dzieli – świadomość pełnienia Bożej woli oraz realizowanie konkretnego posłannictwa (misji), a także prezentuje, jak obie religie spoglądają na siebie nawzajem. W konkluzji przywołuje natomiast doświadczenia z dziedziny dialogu chrześcijańsko-żydowskiego, które również były poprzedzone licznymi stereotypami i uprzedzeniami. Istotne jest, aby nieustannie głosić Dobrą Nowinę, a zatem najpierw to, co łączy chrześcijaństwo i islam, a następnie to, co dzieli, by w taki sposób tworzyć atmosferę wzajemnego zrozumienia i pokoju
