Processamento visual e auditivo em intérpretes e surdos usuários de libras

Objective. To establish the profile of Auditory and Visual Processing abilities of Interpreters of Brazilian Sign Language, of Deaf users of Brazilian Sign Language, and of normal hearing non users of Brazilian Sign Language and to compare the different profiles. Method. 90 individuals ranging in age from 18 to 50 years participated. There were 39 men and 51 women, all considered cognitively normal. They were divided into three groups: 30 deaf users of Brazilian Sign Language (DG), 30 translators and interpreters of Brazilian Sign Language (IG) and 30 individuals for Control group non users of Brazilian Sign Language (CG). Individuals with cognitive impairment were excluded by means of a Cognitive Screening Test. They all answered a Visual Perception Evaluation Scale (VPES) and a Sequential Memory Test. The IG was constituted of individuals who obtained at least 6 out of 10 points in the evaluation of competence in Brazilian Sign Language. The IG and CG were normal-hearing and underwent an Evaluation of the Central Auditory Processing: Duration Pattern Test and Frequency Pattern Test (DPT and FPT) and Auditory Behavior Scale (ABS). The DG completed a Sign Language Scale (SLS), which was developed for this study, and included questions about their day-to-day use od Sign Language. All the tests and evaluations devised for the DG group were translated and shown by video in Brazilian Sign Language in order to ensure the deaf individuals understood. SLS was composed of 12 questions and recorded in 14 videos. All the videos were reviewed by a Brazilian Sign Language (LIBRAS) interpreter from the UNIFESP. The performance in the VPES, in the ABS / SLS by category was different, with statistical significance, in each group CG, IG and DG. The pairs of categories with equivalence were figure- ground and constancy of form, and position in space and spatial relationship for CG and IG. This did not occur with the DG whose worst performance was figure-ground. In the ABS, the best performances were for listening, attention and learning for both CG and IG. In the SLS for DG, the perception of sign language and attention were better than learning and understanding. In the comparison between the groups by categories, the IG and the CG were similar and better than the DG in all the categories. Among the normal hearing groups, the performance in the humming DPT of the CG was better than that of the IG. The results for both DPT and FPT were similar in the CG and IG groups. In the sequential memory task, the performance of the DG and of the CG was similar and worse than that of the IG. Conclusion. The profile of the abilities of the deaf group was different from that of the normal-hearing CG and IG. It is worth highlighting better sequential memory abilities of sign language in the interpreter group, and a poor learning behavior (as shown in the SLS) in the DG. And, it is also worth stressing the relevance of the material specially developed for this study, the Sign Language Scale.Objetivo. Verificar, comparar e traçar o perfil das habilidades do Processamento Auditivo e Visual de Intérpretes de Língua Brasileira de Sinais, de Surdos usuários de Língua Brasileira de Sinais, e de Ouvintes não usuários de Língua Brasileira de Sinais. Método. Participaram 90 adultos de 18 a 50 anos, 39 homens e 51 mulheres, considerados sem problemas cognitivos avaliados por meio de uma triagem cognitiva. Foram reunidos em três grupos: 30 indivíduos Surdos (GS),30 indivíduos Tradutores Intérpretes de Libras (GI) e 30 Ouvintes não usuários de Libras e não protetizados considerados controle (GC). Foram excluídos os indivíduos que apresentarem alteração cognitiva. Todos participaram respondendo a Escala de Avaliação de Percepção Visual (EAPV) e ao Teste de Memória Sequencial. O GI foi constituído por indivíduos que obtiverem pelo menos 6 pontos no questionário de Avaliação de Competência do Intérprete de Libras relativos à formação e sua fluência criado para este estudo. Os Grupos de ouvintes, GI e GC, participaram de Avaliação do Processamento Auditivo Central constituída pelos Testes de Padrão de Frequência e de Duração (TPF e TPD) e responderam a Escala de Comportamento Auditivo (SAB).O s surdos (GS) responderam a Escala Comunicativa em Libras (ECAL) , elaborado para este estudo, contendo situações de comunicação visual do dia a dia. Todos os testes e avaliações realizados ao grupo GS, foram traduzidos e gravados em vídeo por um Tradutor e Interprete em Língua Brasileira de Sinais, a fim de manter uniformidade na apresentação para diferentes indivíduos. Resultado. A ECAL foi composta de 12 perguntas e 14 vídeos sobre cada aspecto dessa escala. Todos os vídeos foram revisados por um docente surdo intérprete de LIBRAS da Universidade Federal de São Paulo-Unifesp. O desempenho no EAPV, na escala SAB /ECAL por categoria foi diferente, com significância estatística, em cada grupo GC, GI E GS. Os pares de categorias com equivalência foram figura-fundo e constância da forma, e posição no espaço e relações espaciais para o GC E GI, o que não ocorreu com o GS cujo pior desempenho foi figura-fundo. Na SAB os melhores desempenhos foram para audição, atenção e aprendizado tanto para GC como para GI. Já na ECAL para o GS a percepção de língua de sinais e a atenção foram melhores que aprendizado e compreensão. Na comparação entre os grupos por categorias o GI e o GC foram semelhantes e melhores que o GS em todas as categorias. Entre os grupos ouvintes o desempenho no TPD humming do GC foi melhor que do GI. A nomeação tanto para TPD como para TPF foi similar entre os grupos GC e GI. Na tarefa de memória sequencial o desempenho do GS e do GC foram semelhantes e piores que o GS. Conclusão. Neste estudo o perfil das habilidades avaliadas se mostrou de modo geral semelhante entre os grupos de ouvintes, GC e GI e melhores do que o grupo de surdos usuário de LIBRAS. Vale destacar a habilidade de memória sequencial superior do grupo interprete de LIBRAS e a dificuldade do grupo de surdos usuários de LIBRAS quanto ao comportamento de aprendizado da Escala Comunicativa em Libras (ECAL). Cabe mencionar a relevância do material elaborado para este estudo denominado ECAL, que possibilitou conhecer o comportamento comunicativo por meio de LIBRAS que ficou constituído por 12 questões que foram gravadas em LIBRAS em vídeos.Dados abertos - Sucupira - Teses e dissertações (2019
