Bagasse, a major by-product of sugarcane-processing industries, has potential to play a significant role as feedstock for production of cellulosic ethanol, platform chemicals, and bio-based commodities. Pretreatment is essential for efficient processing of lignocellulosic feedstocks by biochemical conversion.
