Dunlop-shod black and red Riley), Mr J.P.S. Morice (editor of the South Australian Motorist) with Mrs Charles Coldham aboard the Wattlebird (9 h.p. Dunlop-shod maroon coloured Riley), and Miss Joan Richmond with Mr R. Beatson (team leader) aboard the Kookaburra, which is more commonly known as Jacko, the name invariably used by Joan (9 h.p. Dunlop-shod creamlined Riley). They left Melbourne on Saturday 15 August bound for England via the Monte Carlo Rally in Dunlop-shod and Shell lubricated Riley cars.
