The aberrations are quantities usually computed in the context of Factorial Experiments. In this work, we introduce the use of the aberrations in the framework of contingency table analysis, and we propose a test of independence for $2 imes 2$ tables based on the aberrations. With a simple simulation study, we compare its performance with the well known chi-square test and Fisher's exact test
