Engineering asset management (EAM) is a multi-disciplinary activity that aims to tackle the issues of asset capability, life, safety, maintenance and reliability, taking into account economical and managerial factors. Condition monitoring is an important aspect of EAM as it is able to identify potential failure symptoms and suggest remedial actions prior to any operational interruptions. In general, conditions of assets can be investigated through various tests and then decision has to be made if the asset should be repaired or replaced or further in-depth test is needed.
