This scientific contribution concerns the ethics of care provided to painful patients. Based on N.H. Anderson's Functional Theory of Information Integration (1981), two axes are presented. In the first one, focused on pharmacological treatment, 395 individuals, in 72 scenarios, judged acceptability conditions to refuse to deliver an opiate analgaesic to a patient who asks for it in the postoperative phase. Six factors were studied: age, degree of pain, number of requests, level of risk, outcome of surgery and treatment strategy. In the second area of research, focused on non-pharmacological treatment, 201 individuals in 48 scenarios assessed the acceptability of using hypnosis in the relief of pain induced by care.
