Liquid crystalline semiconductors and narrow bandgap materials are two kinds of interesting materials for optoelectronic applications. They can be used in several type of organic electronic devices such as organic solar cells (OPV), Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLED) and Organic Field Effect transistors (OFET). In this work, we focused on designing and synthesizing novel semiconducting materials based on donor/acceptor architectures which present either high photoluminescence and charge transport properties, or a narow bandgap for ambipolar charge transport.
