The need for insensitive ammunition has favored the emergence of three families of explosives. PBX and compressed explosives are widespread and further studied. However, NEXTER Munitions want to refine its understanding of melt cast explosives. Thus, the company launched this work on the mechanical behavior of the XF-11585 for solicitation representative of the ammunition’s lifecycle.In this work, we designed an inert simulant morphologically representative of the XF family. This inert simulant proves to be mechanically representative for the compression and shear behavior.
