Compact arrays of small wave absorbers constitute an example of the multiple existing categories of wave energy converters (WECs) and have been identified as being an advantageous solution for the extraction of wave energy when compared to a big isolated point absorber. Among the numerous challenges associated with the numerical modeling of such devices, one of the most relevant one is the evaluation of the hydrodynamic interactions amid the large number of floats O(100) they are composed of.
